Ford Fusion Hybrid 2010

Don't count out Ford just yet. The new Fusion Hybrid is getting rave reviews and high marks against the Toyota Prius.


Who says Americans can't build fuel-efficient cars that look good and perform well? Ford calls its 2010 Fusion Hybrid the "most fuel-efficient mid-sized sedan in America." Considering this vehicle can get up to 41 mpg, that's a stellar accomplishment for an American-made car.

Just because gas is around $2 a gallon, we shouldn't get too comfortable driving our gas guzzlers. Like everything else, gas prices will go up again and we still need to stop our dependence on foreign oil, or any oil for that matter. Hybrids are not the perfect answer, but they are an improvement.

Though it is not cheap, the Fusion starts at $19,270, but will probably cost closer to $30,000 when all is said and done, it is comparable to the Toyota Prius, which has been a big seller in the U.S. With a federal tax credit for buying a new car to offset the price, it is a great time to buy an American car!

“We don’t make as much profit on our products than if we had made them overseas, but we are doing our little part to keep American jobs secure,” Cheri says.

Cheri says a lot of people aren’t impressed that she makes her products in her own country and some don't even understand why she does it. But she also says she's not doing it to impress anyone. She, like a lot of concerned citizens, believes American industry is important to the future and financial security of our nation.
